Preparation of cabbage:
Remove the outer leaves of the cabbage and remove the core . Bring a large amount of water to the boil in a saucepan, add the cabbage and cook for a few minutes. Gradually remove the soft leaves. Cut off the thick veins of the leaves to make them easier to wrap.
Prepare the filling:
In a bowl, mix the minced meat, cooked rice, onion, garlic, salt, pepper and marjoram. Mix the ingredients well so that the filling is even.
Form the cabbage rolls:
Place a little filling on each cabbage leaf and roll it up tightly. Fold the sides inwards to form a roll.
Prepare the sauce:
Heat oil in a pan, add tomato passata
and tomato concentrate
. Season with salt and pepper and thicken the sauce with a little flour
mixed with a little water if necessary.
Cook the cabbage rolls:
Place the cabbage rolls firmly in the pan. Pour over the tomato sauce, cover the pan and simmer on low heat for 1.5 hours, until the cabbage is tender.
Serving suggestion:
Serve warm, drizzled with tomato sauce, with potatoes or fresh bread
. They taste best the next day, when the aroma of the sauce fills them!
