This morning I went out into the garden – just to water the flowers and check if the cats hadn’t done their business yet, as they often do. But as soon as I opened the gate, a horrible smell came over me. So strong that my chest tightened and I felt a metallic taste in my mouth.

These tentacles are covered in sticky mucus and give off a horrible smell of carrion to attract flies and spread their spores.

People who see it for the first time often think they are coming across something extraterrestrial. Some even call the police or emergency services.

I was also shocked when I realized that this “creature” in my garden was just a –living, strange mushroom and perhaps one of the most sinister life forms created by nature.

Now I walk around this place every day. I no longer water the flowers.

Let it grow – the “gift of the devil” must not be disturbed.
