An earthquake intensity map from USGS indicated it was most heavily felt across the South Bay, the SF Peninsula and Santa Cruz County.
The 4.6M quake activated USGS’s ShakeAlert early warning system, triggering alerts on personal devices across the Bay Area, Robert de Groot of the USGS ShakeAlert Operations Team told KRON4.
At the epicenter in Boulder Creek, merchandise at a general store appeared to have fallen off the shelves. The California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services said there have been no reports of damage or injuries as of 8:30 a.m. Thursday.
“CAL FIRE CZU enacted its earthquake procedure and inspected all buildings,” Cal Fire wrote on social media. “No damage has been detected.”
