She unexpectedly opens the door to her teenage daughter’s room and stumbles upon something unexpected.

A project born from generosity

Looking more closely at the sign, the mother recognized a photo. It was of her own father, her grandfather, smiling from a  hospital bed  after a stroke. Next to it were pictures of the neighborhood and a mention of a community reading campaign.

Pregnancy and maternity

Her throat tightened.

The two teenagers had imagined everything together: creating a reading program at the community center run by Noah’s grandmother. The grandfather, a retired teacher, could choose the books, lead the sessions, and find a purpose again. He could be useful once more.

The board contained dates, assigned roles, a budget, a letter to neighbors to collect books. And a section, written by the girl, entitled * “How to make it fun” *.

It wasn’t wasted time. It was pure attention.
